         By now, you are entering in a world where memories are made, hidden talents are discovered, and leaders of tomorrow are molded. This is, Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu. Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu is one of the finest Filipino-Chinese schools in Cebu. Here, we are taught well on our academics by our wonderful teachers; we are given the chance to enhance our talents, and best of all we are molded to be great leaders in our generation.

       SHS-AdC also has the best staff members, like the teachers who take their part inside the classroom by educating the young minds of us, students. The School President, Principals, Vice-Principals, DOSS employees, and the staff behind those different offices in our school take part in disciplining the students and keeping our school in tip-top shape, and of course our valuable janitors and technicians who help keep the school clean and orderly.

      SHS-AdC is one of the biggest schools in Cebu. Indeed it is big because of its many facilities that are provided for the students and staff members to enjoy. They have their Track and Field, GYM, Swimming Pool, Chapels, AVRS, Computer Labs, Science Labs, Canteen, and other facilities to be constructed soon. These facilities are made to help the students not only excel  in academics but also in other fields like, sports, dancing, singing, acting, and the like.

     The students in SHS-AdC are very responsible and courteous. They are also very smart.   Most of our students are in many competitions under Mathletes, Scienceletes, Athletes, and the like. The students know how to balance their time very well. Although, some might find it a hard time to juggle both academic and extra-curricular activities. That is why sometimes their grades drop, but not to worry our teachers are here to help the students in remedial classes. Now isn't that very handy? The teachers are doing their part to educate the students, on the other hand the students also have to do their part by studying. To sum it all up the students in Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu are talented, intelligent, and responsible.

    Now, maybe you're not going to believe everything that I'm saying now, but you're about to be proven wrong.

Teachers

        What makes the teachers in Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu unique? Well, I'll start by saying they're all somebody you can enjoy having a conversation with. Outside the four walls of the classroom they are very calm and cool. The teachers act like mothers and fathers, they care for us and make sure that everything is alright, even though your problem is not school related they'll help you through it. They are also one of your best friends; they have fun with you, laugh with you, and even make jokes with you. Enough of them outside the four walls of the classroom. Now, let's enter those four walls. Well, the teachers in SHS-AdC they know how to make classes fun. They find fun activities to that would be related to the lesson. You may think it's a bit childish to be playing games in class, but hey! We all have a bit of our childishness still stuck inside of us. Sometimes the teachers don't give activities at all, they just discuss. But these discussions are extraordinary, they speak about the lesson like it's some kind of suspense story. It makes you want to learn more and more. Indeed they are unique teachers and that's why majority of our students enjoy learning here in SHS-AdC. 

DOSS Officers, Guidance Counselors, and Other Officers

      You might be wondering what DOSS stands for, well DOSS stands for Department Of Student Services. They are the officers who take charge in disciplining the students in the school. They help keep the students very decent and disciplined. They teach the students valuable lessons. These lessons are important to carry and pass on the future generation. The DOSS officers take a big part in the school community because they help mold the students to become better persons in our community. Even though they discipline the students and they're kind of strict, they are really kind people. They're like our Guidance Counselors, they understand us when we need help. Our guidance counselors are also very important, they understand us. They also give very useful advice. Our counselors will also help you take exams for different colleges according to my sister.

      They are also other officers that help keep the school in tip-top shape. Like the Accounting Officers who help the school financially. The Accounting Officers help take in account the money the school has spent and the money the school has received from the different payments. The school janitors are also very important. They help keep the school clean and orderly. The help take out the trash, mop the floors, sweep the floors, and the like. Although you might think that the janitors are not that important, but they really are. Imagine offices, schools, malls, and all the other places without janitors. Imagine all of the dust that would pile up that we wouldn't dare to clean. They contribute a big part in keeping the school clean and orderly.

 Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu is already a very big community, but we still need more members that would make this community even better.

School President, Priests, Brothers and Principals

           The School President is the most important person in our community. He is like the father of the school. Our  school president, the most inspiring person I know, Father Manuel A. Uy S.J or Fr. Manny. He takes a very important role in the school community. Fr. Manny also helps Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu become a better place by creating projects and different programs for the school. He's not only a fun School President, he is also a very fun priest together with the other priests and brothers. Together they make a great team during the mass. They know how to have fun with the homilies and they give us treats when we answer their questions. Which is a bit childish, but I still enjoy it.

           The Principals also have important roles in the school. Their role in the school is similar to that of the School President and the DOSS Officers. Except that they are the people who we go to when we're no comfortable with our classes. Problems such as which Elective Class we're placed in and sometimes changing of section. Aside from that they have numerous roles in the school. 

 Yes, indeed the school has lots of people that we look up to. This is what makes this school unique and special.

Facilities

          What are the facilities in Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu that you can enjoy? Well, I'll start by introducing to you the facilities that are related to sports here in this school. There is the track and field which is around 400 meters long. The rubberized track is used as a training ground for our athletes in school. It is used for their discipline, for them to be trained to do more in their field of sport. Not only is it for our athletes, but also for our dear parents, faculty members, and other students who aren't into sports. It is a place from them to exercise and have fun. Aside from the rubberized track we also have our very own soccer field, which is 400 meters squared wide. The soccer field is a nice place to play soccer because well of course that's where it got its name, but aside from that playing on the soccer field is very enjoyable because of the very wide space that is provided. Even though playing under the heat of the sun is not ideal it is still very refreshing. The basketball court in the gymnasium is also a very amazing place, especially for the boys because you know how boys are with basketball. The gym has 3 courts, and it's 250-300 meters squared wide! Isn't that very cool? In the gym we also have a swimming pool. It serves as a training ground for our swimmers. It is also used for educational purposes. It's one of the subjects that we're going to experience during Physical Education or PE. Aside from the different facilities for sports we also have the Mini Theater for meetings, plays and such. It is also a place for our actors to practice to enhance their talents with their mentors. We also have the music room for our music classes and for the Glee members to practice and to improve on their talents with their vocal coaches. Of course, as you all know that Ateneo de Cebu's classrooms aren't air-conditioned, but we have two Audio Visual Rooms (AVRs) as our second classroom. We also have Science Labs to help us understand our lessons better. It is also the place where we do different experiments. Another Lab in SHS-AdC is the Computer Lab where we learn about different computer related topics. Although we don't always have our classes in the labs or AVRs it's always nice to learn inside the four walls of a plain classroom. Finally, the classrooms in SHS-AdC are not ordinary. The classroom is like our second home, in fact on school days we spend most of our time in the classroom than in our own home. Which is not that bad considering our classroom is where me and my classmates have fun, learn, and bonf, thus creating unforgettable memories. Indeed, the facilities of the school is very remarkable, but there are still more reasons why you will never forget Ateneo de Cebu.

Students

        The students for me is one of the most important part of the school community since the school wouldn't be complete without them. I am a proud student of Sacred Heart School- Ateneo de Cebu. I am glad I transferred because if I didn't transfer I wouldn't know what it would be like to win soccer competitions, I wouldn't know what it would be like to have new friends because in the school where I was before the population was quite low, and there weren't usually new students, so naturally I was still friends with the same people. Here in Ateneo de Cebu I learned how to make new friends. Especially in class, since this year  most of my classmates weren't my classmates before. I am very happy that I am in Grade 8-Campion this year, I've made friends with new students. School started a month ago, and I already made lots of memories with my classmates. My class is my family and I can't wait what other memories are about to happen on the coming days.

Athletes

     Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu is the home of one of the best athletes in the city. SHS-AdC has one countless times in competitions. Such as, basketball games, soccer games, swimming tournaments, and the like. Here, athletes are taught how to manage their time with academics and sports. That is why there is a strict rule regarding your grades when it comes to sports. The rule is when you fail a subject you have to take a break from your sport and focus more on the academic field more. Some students are even offered with scholarships because of sports. Our athletes are determined to be champions, they practice hard, play hard, and think hard. They make sure their practices pay off by them winning or learning lessons.

Academic Athletes

      Athletes aren't only people who play sports, SHS-AdC also have academic athletes. Like the Mathletes and the IYS members. These students are gifted in their academic field especially in Math and Science. Here, students are taught new tricks to enhance their gift and improve it. Being an Academic Athlete is quite fun, I am one actually. I am one of the members of the SHS-AdC Mathletes, and one of the perks of being a Mathlete is that you can get 10% error allowance. Which means that the 10% of the perfect score is the perfect score, which means it is possible to get higher than the perfect score. The Summer Camp training is also very memorable. We learn lots of tricks in Math which is great by the way. You might think it only smart students get accepted, but a great mentor of mine, Ms. Jacqueline Dinela told us that it doesn't matter if you're smart or not as long as you're determined to learn then you'll surely be accepted. 

Blue Tag, Dance Troupe, DBLC and Glee

       Ateneo Hearters are also very talented when it comes to fine arts. One of the most important clubs is the DBLC. The DBLC is the school's band, they are always there for sport tournaments and the like. During assemblies they always play during the Entry of Colors, but that's not the only important club. Recently a club called BLUE TAG was formed. Blue Tag is the home of the school's best actors. 2 years ago they came up with a play "Teenage Dream". It was a very nice and creative play. They hold auditions during the first few weeks of school. I am too scared to audition for Tag, so I tried to audition for Dance Troupe since I wanted to try something new. Luckily I got it. Auditions aren't so bad, all you have to prove to them is that you're determined to be in and that you're confident that you can get it. That was what I had in mind when I was about to audition. All I have to do is be positive because being very pessimistic is very unhealthy. Sometimes it can ruin everything. Like the time my friend Mary Anelsa "Tweety" Lao auditioned for Glee. She's a great singer but she didn't get in because she was nervous. We still do hope that the Glee staff will give in and maybe let her in, but if she was very confident she could have gotten in Glee. Glee by the way is a group of creative singers, just like the show minus the drama. Still Glee without the drama is very fun. All of these programs are very unforgettable. I hope next year more and more of students will be able to boost their confidence and join in.

              

Programs

         You might think that Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu is a school only for the smart and talented, but some students get lost on the track of learning that they just let go and loose sight of their grades. Often this happens to mischievous students. Well, the school has special programs set for these kind of situations. Like remedial class, which are usually required when the student is having trouble with the said subject. SHS-AdC also has special classes in Filipino and Chinese. Isn't that very handy? Indeed the school has lots of things to offer. It is because Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu is the kind of school that doesn't easily give up on its students.

Join The Community

      Indeed this is one of the best schools. It has a lots of programs that would help you improve your talents. It would always be great to have some more people in our community. I hope this blog convinced you to join this very fun and memorable community
